My name is Oreo and I came to KAT Centre in June of 2018 under very traumatic circumstances.
Two months earlier, I had been searching for food in my neighbourhood when an old man started throwing stones at me, one of which painfully hit my leg and left a small wound there. It was the start of the summer season and with no one to care for me, my wound was never treated but instead gradually became infected. By the time I was rescued, the wound had swollen to the size of a tennis ball and maggots were eating the area around my knee.
My leg was so badly damaged by this time that it could not be saved and had to be amputated. On this page you can see photos of me when I had this operation and they are pretty scary to look at now. Losing one of your legs is always hard but especially if it is in the front, as mine is. Despite that, I’ve been able to cope reasonably well and I now live comfortable at KAT Centre.
So far in the two years since, nobody has wanted to adopt me and I feel like I don’t make a big impression on visitors because I’m usually resting my legs or feeling scared around new people. This makes me sad because my behaviour is good and I’m an easy dog to look after.
Please help to sponsor me so that I can continue living in peace here at KAT Centre until the time comes when I can maybe be adopted into a loving home.
